What can I expect from the first session?​

First sessions can be a tad nerve racking; I understand that the process of meeting a stranger and opening up to them is not an easy task, and as a therapist, it is my job to help you feel comfortable and safe. Our first session will consist of going through informed consent, and then completing a structured intake process where I will ask a series of questions to better understand you and your circumstances, and overall orient you to the therapy process. If required, you and the therapist will go over scaled fees. Collaboratively, you and I will set goals, and narrow down specific areas to work on first. Of course, every first session is different for each client, but the goal is that when you leave the session, you and I will have an idea of the direction that therapy will be heading in.

Fees

• All sessions are 50 minutes in length unless otherwise stated 

• As per recommendations from the Psychologists' Association of Alberta, my fee is $220 per session unless otherwise discussed

• If you have questions about scaled fees, let me know

Insurance

• As a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists, my services are covered by most insurance plans

• I am able to direct bill to:

  • Blue Cross ​

  • Canada Life 

  • Desjardins Insurance 

• I also an approved provider for:

  • Canadian Armed Forces (CAF)​

  • Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP)

  • Medavie Blue Cross 

  • Non-insured health benefits for First Nations and Inuit (NIHB)

  • Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP)

  • Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC)

Payment

• Acceptable forms of payment include online payments via JaneApp or e-transfers.
